I'm a member of LifePoint Church in Swansea, which is one of the churches planted under Ministries Without Borders. http://www.ministrieswithoutborders.com/ Ministries Without Borders is a christian, charitable based organization working into many nations across the globe. The work that MWB are doing in the Philippines is incredible. This includes health programs, emergency relief aid, improving livelihood, educational programs, and jail ministry. About 20 miles south of Manila, the capital is a place called Cavite, where a Mission House is established. The Mission House hosts a clinic, housing facility and training centre. The clinic has a maternity ward for woman to deliver their babies in clean, sanitary conditions. The local hospital provides just one bed between three- five women, but at the Mission House each mother can deliver her baby in the maternity suite and rest in her very own bed. Above the maternity ward there is a ward for malnourished children who can be cared for until they are well enough to return home. Abandoned babies are also housed here where they are loved and cared for until adopted by Christian families.
In Luke 4: 18-19 it says
That's basically why I'm here. There are thousands upon thousands of people living here in the Philippines way below the poverty line, most of them have probably never heard the Gospel. God has given us all unique gifts, talents and abilities, and I felt that I should use what He has given me to show His love in a practical way to those who are poor and needy in the Philippines. During my time here I will be involved in many projects including jail ministry, educational programs and visiting Shanti towns and villages sharing the gospel, but I will mainly be based working in the Maternity Clinic providing support and care to the women who will be coming to give birth here.
I'll try and update this as much as I can so you can feel a part of the work that's going on here! Oh, and ignore any grammar or spelling mistakes that you see...I'm sure there will be many!
Great to see your blog - look forward to the next installment xx
